We are delighted to announce that arrangements for the 2012 Festival of Sport to be held in the Hunter Region during the July school vacation period are well under way. From initial discussions the enthusiasm to provide activities at the Festival of Sport continue to grow and expectations for the 22nd Festival are high. The diverse range of activities gives both school aged children and adults many opportunities to develop their existing skills or to try a new sport. The committee of the nib Hunter Festival of Sport hopes that the festival will help continue the sporting heritage by encouraging youngsters to benefit from the physical and social outcomes of participation in sport. The festival is expanding each year, and many of the best young sports people in NSW will compete in the various inter-academy competitions being conducted during the festival period from 30th June to 15th July 2012. Hunter Academy of Sport executive officer Ken Clifford said the festival presented a chance for all children of varying ages and abilities to get involved in a sport or recreational activity. Ken also encouraged people of all ages to become involved through specific sporting events offered including masters swimming competitions and business sponsored activities.
